About Us
Bearsprings is a childminding team run by a mother and daughter since 2018. We found that there are very few resources out there to support those interested in setting up a childminding business and later on, for parents who want to know how best to support their children with regards to activities they can do at home, possibly with siblings in order to get children ready for school while expanding their cultural capital in creative and co-operative ways. We have tried to fill this gap by providing easy to understand documents full of ideas, without complicated jargon. Key terms are explained and we are regularly updating documents online.
We currently run our setting in London and welcome you to contact us regarding a prospective place for your little ones.
Bearsprings has a unique take on childminding as our co-minding team consists of a highly experienced early years teacher and childminder. We have built up our own curriculum (what you teach children) in order to reflect the knowledge and skills that will be most beneficial for children in order for them to transition smoothly in to a more formal learning environment. The Bearsprings curriculum is ever evolving as we put the interests and experiences of all our families at the heart of everything that we do; our celebrations and ethos are a reflection of this.
Bearsprings aims to create an inclusive, warm and caring learning environment for all through following our philosophy;
“With laughter in the air, we’ll create, learn and share.”®
All children at Bearsprings, regardless of their ages and stages of development, are encouraged to learn from each other.
Younger children are able to learn knowledge and skills that are modelled to them by their older peers and older children are able to learn empathy, as well as problem solving abilities as they need to be able to find a way to share experiences with someone younger than themselves.
Our older children benefit substantially from this approach; by supporting their younger peers in activities, they consolidate their own learning and develop their own self confidence and the positive mindset needed to continue their own learning journeys.
Having experienced the support and kindness of their older peers, the younger children are in turn, trained to continue the cycle of consolidating and learning through repetition and rehearsal to achieve their own best possible outcomes.
